Student Leadership Team Applications & Facilitator Nominations due by 3 pm CST on January 7, 2022.

Three student leadership teams help manage and document EAST Conference as an extension of the EAST staff: the Ambassador Team, the Documentation Team, and the Technical Support Team. These are great opportunities for active EAST students who would like to be more involved with EAST Conference. EAST schools get to bring EAST Conference Leadership Team Members to Conference as complimentary full-access participants, in addition to their eight (8) students. Additional travel and lodging expenses for leadership team members are the school's responsibility.

Team Member Requirements & Expectations

The EAST Conference Leadership Teams are vital to the success of EAST Conference. It is especially important that these students attend the entire event in person (from arrival through the Closing Session) and fully participate as a leadership team member. This means that requests to participate as a presenter for the school (ex. program pitch, competition finalist), to attend a breakout session, or assist with booth setup may not be possible. By submitting the application and the facilitator nomination, both the student and facilitator acknowledge that attendance and full participation as a leadership team member is required for the duration of EAST Conference. If a student is selected for a team and later realizes that they cannot commit to being at the entire event, they are expected to forfeit their position on the team.

Application Requirements

All students interested in being on a team are required to submit the following:

  • Complete the specific application(s) for their desired position(s)

  • Create and submit any supplemental application requirements (i.e. video, photos, etc.) specific to that position(s)

  • Submit a signed Parent / Guardian Permission Form

  • Have their facilitator complete a Facilitator Nomination Form

  • Leadership team students have various opportunities to be recognized at EAST Conference. While a signed image release form is not required to be on the team, it is preferred.

Ambassador Team

The Ambassador Team consists of EAST students who assist EAST staff in the countless details of such a huge event, including registration, scanning attendees for breakout sessions, greeting VIPs, interacting with the media, and solving problems. Ambassadors are essentially the EAST Conference hosts. They always have a smile on their face and a “can do” attitude. A Team Leader is responsible for maintaining workflow for all the team members at EAST Conference. A select number of students also serve as speakers for the large group sessions.

Documentation Team

The Documentation Team consists of three teams - photography, video team, and social media - who work together to document and provide coverage of the EAST Conference. A Team Leader is responsible for maintaining workflow for all the team members at EAST Conference. The Video and Photography Teams provide highlights that are hosted on the EAST Conference website and used as promotional pieces to promote and celebrate the event. The Social Media Team consists of Social Media Reporters who serve as the voice of EAST throughout EAST Conference on social media networks (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok).

Tech Support Team

The Technical Support Team plays an important role in helping the EAST Conference run smoothly. A Team Leader is responsible for maintaining workflow for all the team members at EAST Conference. Team members work closely with the EAST Technical Services staff to assist in the set-up, support, and break-down of equipment in all breakout sessions and provide technical support to attendees as needed. Being a part of this team offers a great behind-the-scenes view of what it takes to make the Conference a success.
